Liquefied Oxygen

Liquid oxygen has a pale blue colour and is a cryogenic liquid. It is classified as an industrial gas and is widely used for industrial and medical purposes. At Layerfive Energy, we supply liquid oxygen which can be used in various applications including serving as an oxidant for liquid fuels in the propellant systems of missiles and rockets.

Liquid Oxygen is widely applied in the metal industries in conjunction with acety- lene and other fuel gases for metal cutting, welding, scarfing, hardening, cleaning and melting. Oxygen is used in medicine for therapeutic purposes. In the chemical and petroleum industries, oxygen is used in the production of a wide variety of fuels and chemicals. It is used also in the pulp and paper industry for a variety of applications, including pulp bleaching, black liquor oxidation, and lime kiln enrichment. In the glass industry, oxygen/fuel combustion is used to reduce particulate and NO_x emissions in melting operations.

Process: Oxygen is obtained on a commercial scale by the liquefaction and subsequent distillation of air. For very high purity oxygen it is normally necessary to take the product from an air separation plant through a secondary purification and distillation stage. Alternatively high purity oxygen may be produced by the electrolysis of water. Lower purities of oxygen an also be produced with membrane technique.
